Using the 5.8MHz band keeps it free of the dreaded microwave oven interference, as well as interference from most cordless telephones. The picture is good, though not perfect. But it's more than adequate for all but the largest TVs (great for a kitchen-sized screen). Be sure to experiment with all four channels to find the one that works best. The only glitch I have found is with the power. Occasionally the A/V link would fail and I would have to restart either the sender or the receiver, depending on which one failed. Also, occasionally the channel selection would change spontaneously on one unit or the other, thus breaking the link. I solved both of these problems by installing small APC battery backups on both sender and receiver unit. I think electrical storms were at the root of both problems. The picture is great but the remote extension isn't up to par with the picture. Some days it works great and other days it won't work at all. Most of the time it is in between and the channel will change when you want except instead of going one channel at a time it starts going through a loop till it gets tired and stops on a random channel. I've also figured out that when using the normal tv source I have to shut off the transmitter in order for the remote on that tv to work properly. The main thing though is that the picture transmitted from the living room to the bedroom is great and the remote issues are simply an inconvenience. I saw all of the rave reviews for this product, so I bought in. Big Mistake. I planned to hook the transmitter in the basement to send my DirecTV signal upstairs to a small dining room TV. The signal was full of static, or would cut out all together. I spent an hour fiddling with the antennas on both ends, but never got a watchable picture. I ended up moving the transmitter to my upstairs DirecTV receiver, which is only about 50 ft down the hallway. I still had to place the transmitter on top of some furniture (about 6 ft high) in order for the signal to reach to receiver. I still have drop out and static problems, but its a watchable picture about 95% of the time.
